1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you register and use the Guardian App, we collect the following information:

• Personal Information: Your full name and phone number, provided during registration
• Location Data: Your precise GPS location, collected when you activate a panic alert
• Address Information: Your home or work address, provided during registration
• Device Information: Device push notification tokens, used to send alerts to reaction officers
• Usage Data: Alert history including timestamps, locations, and resolution notes

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information solely for the purpose of providing emergency response services:

• To authenticate your identity and verify your access to the app
• To send your location to assigned reaction officers during a panic alert
• To notify reaction officers of your emergency via push notifications
• To maintain a record of incidents for security and accountability purposes
• To improve the reliability and performance of the app

3. LOCATION DATA

Location access is a core feature of the Guardian App. Specifically:

• Location is only accessed when you press the panic button
• Your location is shared in real-time with assigned reaction officers during an active alert
• Location updates are sent every 30 seconds while an alert is active
• Location data is stored as part of the incident record in our secure database
• We do not track your location at any other time

4. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase, a cloud platform with industry-standard security measures. We implement the following protections:

• All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections
• Access to your data is restricted to authorized personnel and your assigned reaction officers
• Firebase security rules restrict data access based on user roles
• We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties

5. DATA SHARING

We only share your information in the following circumstances:

• Reaction Officers: Your name, phone number, and location are shared with assigned reaction officers during an active emergency alert
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid legal process
• Emergency Services: In life-threatening situations, we may share information with SAPS or emergency medical services

We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

6. DATA RETENTION

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. Alert and incident records are retained for a minimum of 12 months for security and accountability purposes. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

7. YOUR RIGHTS

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: You may request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and personal data
• Portability: You may request your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection: You may object to certain types of data processing

8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The Guardian App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

9. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS

The app uses push notifications to alert reaction officers of emergency situations. Officers may receive notifications even when the app is closed. Clients may receive notifications confirming their alert has been acknowledged. You may disable push notifications through your device settings, however this may affect the functionality of the app for reaction officers.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. GOVERNING LAW
